Frequently asked questions

What parents ask before they order

Not seeing your question? Do get in touch, we are glad to help.

How long is a licence valid?

A licence stays active for one year, which is ample for a course of 20 weeks. If your child needs longer for some reason, just send us a message.

How many people can use one licence?

A licence is personal, so only one person can use it.

How long does it take to learn to touch-type?

The course takes about 20 weeks on average. Ten minutes of practice a day is enough for a child to learn to touch-type within those 20 weeks.

Is there a minimum age for the TypeMission course?

There is no minimum age. Most of our students are between 9 and 13, but younger and older children take the course too.

What do I need to run the course?

TypeMission works on any computer with an internet connection. There is no software to install — all your child needs is an up-to-date web browser.

We do recommend a computer with at least 8 GB of RAM and a 1 GB graphics card. Almost every modern computer or laptop meets that.

If you are not sure, try the free trial lesson first. If that runs smoothly, the rest of the course will too.

Can my child follow the course on their own, or do I need to help?

Children can work through TypeMission entirely on their own. The programme is built to teach typing step by step without a parent sitting alongside. Do check in now and then to see whether your child is still motivated — and if not, the weekly parent report always includes a few tips to help.

Is TypeMission suitable for children with dyslexia or other learning difficulties?

Yes. TypeMission teaches mainly through video, so children who find reading hard can follow the story and the instructions without trouble. There is also a dyslexia-friendly font that can be switched on, which makes letters such as d, p, q and b easier to tell apart.

What happens if my child doesn’t pass the typing exam?

Your child can keep practising and retake the exam as often as they like, until they are happy with the result. Once they are, we make sure they receive the official TypeMission typing diploma.

For schools

Teaching a whole class to type?

A school decides for itself how it uses TypeMission: as classroom teaching with licences through the school, or independently, with parents ordering through a discount code. The teacher follows every pupil in the school portal, and needs no training to do it.
